Price stability in supermarket chains during February

The inflation rate for products sold in supermarket chains was at 2.75% in February 2024, according to research conducted by the Institute of Retail Consumer Goods Research (IELKA) on major supermarket chains. This figure reflects a slight decrease compared to the 3% inflation rate observed in January 2024.

Stournaras: ECB must reduce rates four times within 2024

The European Central Bank must cut borrowing costs twice before the August summer break and another two times before the end of the year, without being influenced by the US Federal Reserve, according to ECB Governing Council member and governor of the Bank of Greece (BoG) Yannis Stournaras.

Development Min Skrekas: The measures are permanent and aim to correct longstanding structural distortions

"The prices have dropped in 3,900 basic goods for every household so far. We have already checked that the prices of baby formula have dropped by 15 pct. We will not stop our efforts," Development Minister Kostas Skrekas noted during his visit to a major supermarket chain on Friday, the first day of the implementation of four government structural reforms to tackle the high cost of living.
