Greek Minister of the Environment Yiannis Maniatis said at the 17th European Business Congress that Greece is interested in building the South Stream gas pipeline section via its territory.

The Greek-Israeli strategic relationship that was cemented through the meeting between PMs Antonis Samaras and Binyamin Netanyahu last October and the signing of more than ten agreements is being further augmented through a two day visit by Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Liebermann to Athens.

The crisis in Ukraine will likely have an impact on natural gas but it will not affect the agreement that will be signed with Gazprom in a few days, Deputy Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Asimakis Papageorgiou stated on radio station Vima FM.
