"It was a dream come true," said the president of the Greek Community of Melbourne, Vassilis Papastergiadis, on Friday, welcoming an initiative by Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias to open a Greek National Tourism Office (GNTO) in Australia.

The exhibition "Open Horizons - Ancient Greek Journeys and Connections", a collaboration between the National Archaeological Museum and the Melbourne Museum, was inaugurated in the presence of the Prime Minister of the State of Victoria, Daniel Andrews, the Archbishop of Australia, Makarios, the Greek Culture and Sports Minister Lina Mendoni, as well as ministers, expatriate deputies and a crowd of people, the culture ministry said in an announcement.

Greek gymnast Lefteris Petrounias won gold in rings at the 2020 World Cup Gymnastics in Melbourne on Saturday, bringing him a step closer to the Tokyo Olympic Games this summer.
