Chinese artist Kong Ning performed at the foot of the Acropolis in the center of Athens on Sunday in a bid to raise public awareness on environmental protection.

A new waste reduction initiative to decrease the use of plastic bags will be put into place from January; it sees a three cent fee imposed on all plastic bags, which will rise to seven cents in 2019.

The European Commission on Wednesday sent final warnings to Greece and another four EU member-states to complete the enactment of EU waste legislation and adopt measures to reduce the consumption of plastic carrier bags, in line with the Plastic Bags Directive of 27 November 2016.
