Astoria, New York's landmark Athens Cafe has closed its doors, with differing reports stating what type of venue may take its place.

Ένας Έλληνας σεφ από τα Κύθηρα, με σπουδές στο εξωτερικό και την Αθήνα, αποφάσισε να εγκαταλείψει το νησί, λόγω της κρίσης και να αξιοποιήσει την διπλή υπηκοότητά του για να εργαστεί στη Νέα Υόρκη.  Το "ταξίδι" αυτό τον οδήγησε σε ένα από τα πιο γνωστά ελληνικά - και όχι μόνο - ρεστοράν του Μανχάτταν αλλά και εκεί που ίσως κάποτε να μην φανταζόταν: Στον Λευκό Οίκο, όπου προσέφερε τις υπηρεσίες του στον Αμερικανό Πρόεδρο, Μπαράκ Ομπάμα, και τους προσκεκλημένους του.
