Theodoros Angelopoulos' house and archive burned down in fire

The fire did not spare the house of the late cinematographer Theodoros Angelopoulos.
The widow of Theodoros Angelopoulos is in despair is, after seeing her house in Mati being destroyed by the conflagration. With tears in her eyes, Phoebe Angelopoulou spoke to Star TV stating that her home was burned down. Together with the archive of Theodoros Angelopoulos.
"All his correspondence with famous people, all the books of the writers who had dedicated them to him .... Everything in the office, which was private, has been destroyed. My daughter Katerina grabbed a box that is only the documents of the film "Thiasos," she said.
"The house that we inhabited has been totally destroyed ... There are some aluminum pieces out there. Inside a ceiling has fallen and there are some sofas. "
Mrs Angelopoulou's testimony was shocking, "When the fire broke out, I was at a friend's who had had an operation and was using crutches and eventually drowned."
"Unfortunately, neither television, nor the state, nor we residents who have been half-trained all these years and have had some organization ... none of these things worked. Nothing at all!".
"I took my granddaughter from the kindergarten in Rafina to come here and at the top of the hill I already knew I had to leave, not to go to my friend and my daughter. I knew it, but I thought the bells would be rung.Something would sound! There will be something of what happened in the past years! Nothing happened, and no official appeared until nine," she said.
