Criminal investigation ordered by the prosecution after receiving the video of Varoufakis’ statements on ecstasy use
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
A preliminary investigation was prompted by what Giannis Varoufakis said in an interview about his drug use.
Specifically, the prosecutor's office ordered a criminal investigation to examine whether the offense of provoking and advertising drugs or some other offense has been committed.
In particular, during his participation in a podcast, the former finance minister of the SYRIZA government made personal revelations, stating, among other things, that he had once used ecstasy, while stating that he prefers pot, which he described as "more pleasant".
The video of Varoufakis' above statements was read out to the prosecution by the Hellenic Police.
