The Greek island of Alonissos, which British tour operators voted as Best Diving Destination at the Greek Travel Awards organised by the UK and Ireland office of the Greek National Tourism Organisation, has chosen to celebrate its connection with the sea this year by organising a symbolic underwater decoration of a Christmas Tree, posting a video of the event on Youtube .

Alonissos won the Best Diving Destination award in the context of the first Greek Travel Awards successfully organized by the UK offie of the Greek National Tourism Organizationon-EOT Monday, November 7 in London, after the completion of the first day of the international tourism exhibition WTM 2022.

The first underwater civil wedding ceremony, held in the enchanting deeps of the sea surrounding the island of Alonissos, took place on Monday with the island's mayor Petros Vafinis officiating.
