The best way to honour the victims of the Nazi atrocities in the village of Distomo is to preserve the historical memory and stop neo-Nazism from spreading, Alternate Defence Minister Dimitris Vitsas said on Friday, in a message to mark the 72nd anniversary from the execution of 218 villagers from German troops.

Mayors and city representatives from villages of Greece destroyed by occupation troops expressed their willingness to preserve the memory of holocausts, at the Governing Board held today in Distomom "as a duty and honor to those executed."
