Appellate-level public prosecutor Spyros Pappas on Wednesday lodged an appeal against the entirety almost of the court ruling regarding the devastating fire in Mati, except for that section relating to the private citizen that started the fire and caused the disaster.
A three-member misdemeanors court issued its verdict on Monday regarding the deadly fire in Mati, in 2018, which claimed 104 lives and left many injured.
The events of July 2018 during the deadly fire in Mati, which broke out shortly after five in the afternoon when an elderly man started a fire to burn dry grasses in his field in the Dau area that got out of control, are being revived this morning before the 6th Tribunal Criminal Court of Penteli.
