Sending a global and powerful message in support of the repatriation of cultural property—and demonstrating in practice that the claim for the return of the Parthenon Marbles from London is not a one-sided demand—the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, handed over to the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Greece, Omar Amer Youssef, six Egyptian figurines. These had been discovered in Athens and were documented as having been the result of illegal trafficking from Egypt.

With the restoration of the western pediment of the Parthenon completed and the external scaffolding permanently removed from the monument’s western façade, a particularly significant milestone has been reached for the protection and enhancement of the monuments on the Athens Acropolis, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni stressed on Thursday.

After the conclusion of the 1st Turkey-Greece Cultural Forum in Cappadocia, the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, accompanied by the Consul General of Greece, Konstantinos Koutras, held a working meeting with His All-Holiness Bartholomew I in Constantinople.
