The Greek Ministry of Migration & Asylum will provide 2 million euros in funds for the creation of a tourism campaign to promote the Greek islands hit by the migration crisis, namely Chios, Lesvos, Kos, Leros and Samos, it was announced on Thursday.

Twenty-eight facilities hosting asylum applicants on the Greek mainland will become legal entities and come under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Migration and the Deputy Minister of Finance, the Migration Ministry said on Wednesday.

Migration is an issue Europe must learn to live with in the coming years, and needs better management, European Commision Vice President Margaritis Schinas said on Thursday, prior to his meeting with newly-appointed Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarakis at the Commission offices in Athens.
