New severe weather will hit Greece from today (25/09) until Wednesday. Based on the national weather bureau's emergency report, the Civil Protection Ministry has been alerted, as the highest levels of rain are expected to fall in Thessaly.

The areas of Thessaly, central Greece, that were flooded by the storm 'Daniel' were the focus of a visit by Iratxe García, president of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) in the European Parliament, together with PASOK-Movement for Change (KINAL) leader Nikos Androulakis and S&D MEP for Pasok-Kinal Nikos Papandreou.

The situation continues to be difficult for the inhabitants of Volos, the capital of the regional unit of Magnesia, who are still without drinking water. According to scientists, tap water in the coastal city is still unsafe to drink.
