Merkel avoiding Tsipras meeting

German Chancellor Angela Merkel wants to avoid being drawn into a direct confrontation with Greek Premier Alexis Tsipras and is unlikely to agree to a bilateral meeting with him at a European Union summit next week, a German government official said.

Venizelos heralds PASOK leadership change

PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos addressed a joint meeting of the party’s new parliamentary group and the political council and referred to the election result saying it was a heavy defeat for PASOK, its wing and strategy and for him personally. He added that after the party's congress he will step down from PASOK's leadership.
