The conflict in Israel has dealt a major blow to the tourist market of Thessaloniki, as 11% of overnight stays in the northern Greek city come from Israel.
Overnight stays in short-term lease properties in Greece exceeded 9.3 million in the first half of the year, according to figures announced on Monday by Eurostat, and compiled from data by AirBnb, Booking, Expedia Group and Tripadvisor.
Tourism organization TUI has extended the tourist season in Greece and Turkey until November in response to increased demand, as extreme summer temperatures disrupted the plans of some holidaymakers.
