The U.S. Senate has approved a major defense bill that would block the sale of U.S. F-35 fighter jets to Turkey unless it abandons a deal to buy S-400 missile-defense systems from Russia.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias has asked his U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo to stop selling weapons to Turkey since they may be used on Greece and other regional countries, the Hellas Journal has reported.

American lawmakers have introduced a new bipartisan bill seeking to ban F-35 deliveries to an "increasingly hostile and authoritarian" Turkey, partly because of Ankara's decision to purchase Russia's missile defense systems.
