Greek ship serves as Libyan parliament

A hurriedly rented Greek ferry, is serving as a meeting place and residence for Libyan parliament members and their families.
The Greek ship Elyros became the haven for the members of the Parliament of Libya in Tobruk while in Tripoli a "parallel" Parliament has been installed with the support of militia groups.
According to the British newspaper Guardian, the ship was chartered by the Parliament as a "home" and fore meetings of Members.
Islamists and their allies have captured the capital, Tripoli, and most of Benghazi, the second largest city of the country. The small port of Tobruk is what is left of the sovereign state power in Libya.
On one side of the bay, a conference hotel conference room serves as the parliament, protected by soldiers in American supplied Humvees. On the other hand, moored at a dock, is the white Elyros, that normally carries cars and passengers between Greece and Italy.
Tobruk is known for "desperate acts of resistance" as during WW II allied forces endured months of siege at the hands of General Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps.
