Erdogan now going after footballers, pop stars

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has spun out of control and in response to the failed coup has unleashed a veritable pogrom on his perceived, or real, enemies.

The name of the new person hounded by Erdogan is former international footballer Hakan Sukkur!

An arrest warrant was issued against former star of football Hakan Sukkur under the pogroms that continue after the failed coup of July 15, according to Turkish media.

Hakan Sukkur, former international, is being accused of "being a member of a terrorist organization", according to Turkish Anadolu news agency, referring to the organization of, exiled in the US, cleric Fethullah Gülen, in which the strong man of Turkey and the Turkish leadership have accused of being responsible for planning the coup.

Hakan Sukkur however is not in Turkey, since in recent years he lives in the USA.

Sukkur was an MP with Erdogan's AK Party, before falling out with the Turkish strongman.

It appears he is also set his eyes on young entertainers too. Popular Turkish singer Sila Gencoglu has had her concerts cancelled by the Turkish authorities because she refused to take part in the massive event organised by the Turkish President Erdogan celebrating the failed coup attempt in mid July.

cut3The ‘queen’ of Turkish pop was informed that her September concerts, scheduled to take place in Constantinople, had been cancelled due to her refusal to take part on the celebrations against the military coup.

The 36-year-old singer had posted a tweet showing her support to the victims of the coup a day after it happened, while on July 20 she had tweeted her support to the Turkish government.
