Kiev Patriarch lays waste to Bartholomew's "Unity Synod"

Five days before the "Unity Synod" is to be held at Hagia Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, Patriarch Philateros of the so-called "Patriarchate of Kiev" openly denounces his disagreement with the Ecumenical Patriarchate about the process.
On Monday December 10, Patriarch Philaretos, speaking to media, said that "if it is not beneficial to us, we will not vote and reject the Unity Synod."
Patriarch Philaretos also said that the Patriarchate of Kiev may not accept the demands of Constantinople because of disagreements about the process and holding of the "Unity Synod".
Moreover, Philaretos clarified that he only wants Bishops within the "Unity Synod" as opposed to the Ecumenical Patriarchate who insists on the participation of clergy and lay people.
Patriarch Philaretos also requires an open vote to elect a Head, as opposed to the Phanar who is in favor of a secret ballot.
"The Patriarchate of Kiev is the largest church and it is up to us whether or not we accept or propose. I repeat if it is beneficial for us we will accept it, if it is not beneficial for the Church and the State we will not vote and we will reject it," said Philaretos Denishenko.
The declarations of Philaretos Denishenko set fire to the foundations of the "Unity Synod", while making the work of the Ecumenical Patriarchate very difficult, but also for the future of the Church.
