Center for Strategic and International Studies: Challenges in 2020 (view live today)
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
If something has become clear from the first week of 2020, it is that new events will continue to emerge, along with everything that has already happened and is continuing, such as Brexit, climate change, and tensions in international trade.
On Thursday, January 9, 2020, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington will present the next Schieffer Series event. The Schieffer Series, co-ordinated by journalist Bob Schieffer, organizes a series of debates, focusing on topical issues of international interest, involving professionals from politics, journalism, and law.
CSIS experts such as Kathleen H. Hicks, Stephanie Segal, Sarah Ladislaw and Beverly Kirk will be in attendance at the 2020 Big Challenges event. Last December, all four speakers participated in a talk co-sponsored by Beverly Kirk on the series "Smart Women, Smart Power" on the challenges that await us in the new year. A number of developments have taken place in the interim since that discussion, which will be discussed in greater depth at the Schieffer Series event.
The event takes place at CSIS from 5:00 - 6:30 pm (EST) on CSIS with free entry and will be broadcast live at the link here. The Schieffer Series is supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN) and implemented through the collaboration of CSIS and Bob Schieffer College of Communication at Texas Christian University, "shedding light" on current issues for more than a decade.
