Mary Katrantzou presents the Calla collection - Her Bvlgari debut

Featured Mary Katrantzou presents the Calla collection - Her Bvlgari debut

Famous A-listers were in Paris a few days ago for the official launch of Mary Katrantzou's first collection for Bvlgari.

For more than 100 years, Bvlgari has established itself as one of the leaders in the field of high jewelry. The luxury brand has associated its name with iconic pieces, such as the iconic 'Serpenti' line, which includes everything from necklaces to watches, but also its impeccable craftsmanship, which reduces each piece of jewelery to a work of art - not just another accessory.

Of course, beyond its jewelry, the luxurious brand also offers an impressive collection of leather bags. From classic matelassé leather to crystal handles, Bvlgari bags are investment pieces that are considered a timeless asset to a woman's wardrobe, and are designed to stand the test of time.

Recently, during Paris Fashion Week, Bvlgari presented its latest line of leather goods and accessories, entitled 'Calla', which includes five pieces and marks the debut of Greek designer Mary Katrantzou as the house's creative director for leather goods and accessories.

For her first collection for Bvlgari, Mary Katrantzou was inspired by the 'Calla' motif, which comes from the mosaics of the ancient Terme di Caracalla (Baths of Caracalla) in Rome. Built around 212 AD, the Baths were once a social center of Roman society and were known for their rich decoration. "The motif, a sensually curved fan, is characterized by an exciting femininity and universality, which connects it with other cultures, with other meanings", explains Mary Katrantzou. "It is associated with the gingko leaf and the calla lily - the word 'Calla' has infinite interpretations - but 'all roads lead'... to Bvlgari".

The mosaic floors of the Terme di Caracalla are known for their colorful fan-shaped designs, made in rich shades of pearl, amethyst, emerald and gold.

For her first collection for Bvlgari, Mary Katrantzou combined the house's design codes with the ancient 'Calla' motif, resulting in an impressive collection of five bags: the Serpenti Sugarloaf, the Serpentine Duo, the Marquise, the Gingko clutch and the Calla evening clutch.

To celebrate her first collection as Bvlgari's artistic director for leather goods and accessories, Mary Katrantzou organized a glamorous event full of glitter and sparkly mood in Paris, during Fashion Week, with invited friends of the house and women who have stood out for their style and aesthetics
