Frontex is expecting a new wave of immigrants on the Greek-Turkish border in Evros in the near future.
Europe "is here, united and determined to guard its borders from the invasion of despairing people," Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis said on Thursday during a visit at the Evros borders with Turkey.
The Executive Director of Frontex on Monday agreed to launch a rapid border intervention (RABIT) to assist Greece in dealing with the large numbers of migrants at its external borders, the European border agency announced. The Greek government officially asked Frontex to launch a rapid border intervention at its sea borders in the Aegean on Sunday night, the announcement said.
