Supreme Court (Areios Paghos) Prosecutor Georgia Adilini on Friday ordered the Piraeus public prosecutors' department to supervise the investigation into what she called "a murderous attack on police officers" outside the "Melina Mercouri" indoor stadium and to determine whether automatically prosecutable offences had occurred, such as criminal organisation, attempted murder, incitement to commit crimes, violence and others, as well as the investigation to locate and arrest those responsible.

In joint statements with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan after their meeting in Athens on Thursday, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told a press conference that this was "a truly special day, as the High-Level Cooperation Council of Greece and Turkiye is convening once more after seven years."

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during their meeting in Athens on Thursday, signed the "Athens Declaration on Friendly Relations and Good-Neighbourliness" on behalf of their respective governments after "having chaired the 5th meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the Republic of Türkiye and the Hellenic Republic on December 7th, 2023, in Athens, in a spirit of goodwill and cooperation."
