Supreme Court prosecutor intervenes in case of 'murderous attack' against policemen
- Written by E.Tsiliopoulos
Supreme Court (Areios Paghos) Prosecutor Georgia Adilini on Friday ordered the Piraeus public prosecutors' department to supervise the investigation into what she called "a murderous attack on police officers" outside the "Melina Mercouri" indoor stadium and to determine whether automatically prosecutable offences had occurred, such as criminal organisation, attempted murder, incitement to commit crimes, violence and others, as well as the investigation to locate and arrest those responsible.
The investigation relates to an attack on police using naval flares by a group of hooligans on Thursday night, as they emerged from a volleyball game between the Panathinaikos and Olympiacos teams. One police officer sustained serious injuries as a result of a direct hit and was taken to hospital in a very serious condition.
