The mayors of Crete have said 'yes' to the hosting of unaccompanied refugee children on the island in response to a call made by Deputy Labour Minister Domna Michailidou, during a meeting of the region's union of municipalities.
"Greece provides strong political support to the project for Cyprus' electrical interconnection with Crete and Israel as Projects of Common Interest (PCI), in order to end Cyprus' electrical isolation and link the island with the European Union's electricity grids," Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said on Friday in an interview with the Cyprus News Agency.
Over 100 archaeologists of various nationalities took part in the 10th excavation season at Sissi (municipality of Agios Nikolaos) in Crete conducted by the Belgian School at Athens (EBSA) headed by Professor Jan Driessen (University of Louvain / Belgian School at Athens), in close collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of Lasithi.
