Greece is in a trajectory of growth, and is in a position to absorb the crisis in the Middle East, Greek National Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis told 'Le Point' magazine and journalist Philippine Robert in an interview.

The government is considering clear restrictions on the number of tourist beds in the Cyclades and stricter measures for short-term rental housing on the already developed islands, in view of the presentation of the new Special Spatial Planning Framework for Tourism, which is expected to take place immediately after Easter.

Greece is drawing increased tourist interest from across Europe and North America despite rising airfare costs and household budget pressures linked to the Middle East conflict, with American arrivals up 37% in January and German travelers abandoning long-haul destinations in favor of Greek islands, according to Greece's National Tourism Organization.
