The deal with the troika of lenders and the government has closed, as Prime Minister Antonis Samaras stated from the Finance Ministry on Tuesday afternoon.
The European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund have expressed a view that the Greek government may repeat past mistakes if it manages to slip the shackles of its bailout program, said two officials, one from Greece and another from the European Union. They asked not to be named because the discussions are private.
It's been eight months since the sudden and shocking decision by the prime minister to shut down public broadcaster (ERT) and the controversy is still alive and well. On Wednesday, the Council of State delivered its positive ruling on the constitutionality of the closure.
