Events in Thessaloniki celebrating its patron saint St. Demetrios, its liberation and the 28 October national holiday will open on Friday in the northern Greek city.

Passers by in the center of Thessaloniki became witnesses to a car chase and exchange of fire between police and illegal immigrants and people smugglers, on Sunday morning.
