Churches to open for worship on May 17

After expressing her gratitude for the co-operation to all religious leaders, Education and Religious Affairs Minister Niki Kerameos announced that places of worship would open for personal prayer on May 4, while Churches would open to the faithful under strict observance of safety rules on May 17.

The Greek government has called for an investigation by the Prosecutor’s office over two incidents of priests reportedly offering Holy Communion to faithful in churches in Koukai, Athens and in the island of Corfu, contrary to instruction by the Holy Synod.
