Temporarily, the Greek cruise market and in particular some Greek islands have benefited from the tragic events in Israel according to estimates from industry players. The Greek islands will benefit, estimates the President of the Union of Cruise Ship Owners and Shipping Agencies (EEKFN) Giorgos Koumbenas, while the honorary president of the Union, Theodoros Kontes, expresses the same assessment.

Two facts strike cruise industry pundits at this time: the rise in demand for cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean and the large number of ships seeking to make a Greek port of departure.
On a global level, the general image of the cruise industry at the moment is undoubtedly very positive and sends optimistic messages for the future, the president of the Union of Cruise Ship Owners and Shipping Agencies, Giorgos Koumbenas, told NEA newspaper.

More than 700 cruise ships will approach our country's ports this year, of which 570 will do home porting with obvious benefits for local economies, since Home porting means four times the revenue in each region.
