Greece's Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias on Monday urged Turkey to be "sufficiently wise" as to discuss preparations for a new round of talks in Geneva on the Cyprus issue, following his meeting with United Nations special envoy on the Cyprus issue Espen Barth Eide in Athens.

Athens and Nicosia must be the guardians of the effort to find a solution to the Cyprus issue, in spite of Turkey's intransigency, main opposition New Democracy's shadow minister for the Cyprus problem George Koumoutsakos said in statements published on Sunday.

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos is likely to meet with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras next week to discuss the Cyprus issue.
