The contract to carry out exploratory drilling for hydrocarbons in "Block 2", located in the northwestern Ionian Sea, is being signed on Wednesday, at the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

Energean completed the 3D seismic survey in the offshore Block 2, Northwest Ionian, acquiring data from approximately 2,200 square kilometers. It was the fourth seismic survey carried out by the company from 2009 to date and which was completed without any environmental or other incident and in absolute safety conditions.

The MoU signed in Cairo between the European Commission and Israel and Egypt has paved the way for alternative natural gas supply sources for the Greek and Balkan markets.
