In response to anarchists burning down a tree placed by the municipality of Athens on the main square in the downtown neighborhood of Exarchia, the cityhas decided to replace it. 

An inquiry by internal police investigation mechanisms, in addition to the referral of the case to the National Ombudsman, was ordered on Monday into the videos, photos and complaints regarding police behaviour made in relation to the violent incidents in Exarchia on Friday, December 6.

An operation was underway in an apartment building in the Athens district of Exarchia on Monday.
