The Greek banking sector stabilized in 2016 showing clear signs of improvement, the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA) said in a press release on Tuesday after a meeting of the body’s leadership with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. 

Greek banks further reduced their borrowing from the Emergency Liquidity Assistance mechanism, the Bank of Greece said on Thursday.

More than 1.0 billion euros of “fresh” money has returned to Greek banks as deposits following the latest relaxation of capital controls last month, offering clear evidence of a restored climate of confidence in the domestic banking system.
