The European Commission has approved a 1.2 billion euro Greek aid scheme to support the Greek economy in the context of the coronavirus outbreak. The scheme was approved under the State aid Temporary Framework adopted by the Commission on 19 March 2020, as amended on 3 April 2020.

Despite being relatively contained, the spread of Covid-19 is expected to have a significant impact on growth in Greece, with recovery after the crisis subsides to be slower, according to a study released this week by banking and financial services group ING.

The Greek economy is on a positive track, head of the Parliament's Budget Office Frangiskos Koutentakis said on Thursday.
