The remains of 193 Greek soldiers who died in Albania during the Greek-Italian war in 1940-41 were given a Greek Orthodox burial on Tuesday at the military cemetery of Kelcyre (known as Kleisoura in Greek), in the Albanian region of Premet, the Greek Foreign Ministry said.

Υesterday’s burial ceremony of more than 100 Greek heroes of the Greek-Italian war in the Greek village of Vouliarates in Northern Epirus, Albania, marks the historic vindication of the Greek fallen soldiers, “whose souls can finally rest in peace”, according to a statement by the Greek Foreign Ministry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has characterized the process of seeking, exposing, identifying and burying of the remains of Greek fallen soldiers in Albania, in WW II as a "significant step."
