A body found on a Skopelos island beach on Tuesday probably belongs to a monk that went missing on December 22, 2021, the port authorities said.

The all-male monastic community of Mount Athos on Wednesday announced it will extend its ban on visitors or pilgrims until April 20, as part of measures against the coronavirus pandemic.

An Italian national that was on a pilgrimage to the monastic community of Mt. Athos developed symptoms of a suspected coronavirus infection and was transferred to to the nearest referral hospital, the AHEPA hospital in Thessaloniki, authorities announced on Monday.
