The islands of the eastern Aegean are facing a crisis with the thousands of immigrants who are locked in reception centers originally designed to accommodate much fewer people.

While Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was speaking at the 14th Regional Conference of the North Aegean, in Mytilene, there were protest marches in which the inhabitants of the island of Lesvos were involved.

Over 5,000 migrants and refugees are currently on Lesvos island including 90 persons that reached the coast of Mytilene early Tuesday.
