The procedures for the election of new party leader will start immediately, said New Democracy (ND) in an announcement issued on Tuesday.

New Democracy leader Vangelis Meimarakis pointed out on Thursday the need for consensus after the elections to get the country out of the crisis, clarifying however that this can only be achieved by those who want it. 

New Democracy will invite all the parties to form a government of "cooperation, understanding and national responsibility" if it wins Sunday's elections, ND leader Vangelis Meimarakis said on Wednesday.
