The damage from the theft of olive oil reported by the Agricultural Cooperative of Olive Production in Polygyros, in Halkidiki, on the morning of Tuesday, October 3, is estimated at more than 370,000 euros.

Olive oil stocks are almost depleted in Europe, which is bracing for new shortages due to extreme weather events that have adversely affected harvests for the second consecutive year.

A 6% increase, not including petroleum products, is recorded by Greek exports in the first half of the year according to  Hellenic Statistical Authority-ELSTAT data. In fact, the increase in exports is based on food, which increased in June by 13%.
