Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on Monday called for a tougher stance against Turkey, including more EU sanctions, in comments while visiting the northern Greek city of Alexandroupolis.

George Katrougalos, in charge of foreign affairs for the main opposition SYRIZA party, accused Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of studiously avoiding to talk about the possibility of sanctions against Turkey, during an interview with radio station "Praktoreio FM" on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras send the message that whoever violates Greece and Cyprus' sovereign rights, that is member of the European Union, and whoever violates the International Law in the region "should know that there will be sanctions" in his statement on Sunday after the conclusion of the Government Council for Foreign Affairs and Defence (KYSEA) meeting at the Maximos mansion.
