Three people are dead in Messinia and a person is missing in Thessaloniki, is so far the toll of the severe weather disaster affecting the country and according to forecasts will continue.

Heavy snowfall has been recorded across the country from early Wednesday. Snow has fallen in central Greece and traffic in the mountainous and semi-mountainous areas is only conducted with the use of snow chains.

Greece's weather service warned that conditions would deteriorate from Tuesday, with temperatures dropping significantly in most parts of the country, following a series of serious flash floods over the last two weeks.
