Turkish authorities denied entry of a Greek regional governor to the country on Saturday, and also reportedly kept him detained in an office for six hours.

Regional governor of Central Macedonia Apostolos Tzitzikostas was elected president of the European Committee of the Regions. Tzitzikostas is the first Greek that assumes this post succeeding Belgian Karl-Heinz Lambertz.
