A 56-year-old border guard who was injured - on Saturday afternoon- by fire from the Turkish side while on patrol in a remote area of Soufli, is being treated in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Didymoteicho General Hospital.
Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias, in a post on "X" platform addressed the wildfires faced by firefighting forces on Friday. Kikilias emphasized that "the prolonged heatwave, drought, strong winds, and increased dry lightning activity severely tested the efforts of firefighters, who tackled 68 fires across the country."

New destinations and direct routes from Athens and Thessaloniki have been added to Aegean's winter schedule. Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Las Palmas (Gran Canaria) from Athens,and Amsterdam (Netherlands) from Thessaloniki are the new direct flights that have appeared on Aegean’s website and booking systems, marking the beginning of the new winter season (Winter 2024).
