Greece has admitted it has come under intense pressure over migration, but has strongly denied that any official attempt has been made to suspend it from the Schengen passport-free zone.

An internal memo dated December 1 from the presidency of the council of the Euroepan Union to the EU Permanent Representatives Committee, titled “Integrity of the Schengen area”, outlines a 2-year EU plan for an exit from the Schengen area for member states such as Greece who cannot adequately safeguard EU borders.

There is no problem with the government majority, Interior and Administration Reconstruction Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis said in statements to Mega TV on Tuesday.
