The leadership of the coast guard attributed the incident at Farmakonisi that claimed the lives of 16 lives to a long list of tragic coincidences, speaking in front of a parliamentary committee.

Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras on Tuesday redirected his plane to the earthquake-stricken island of Cephalonia, where he will spend the night, instead of returning to Athens as planned.

“I’m sorry to say that the review is not yet concluded, and further work is needed in Greece before the Troika can return to Athens,” said Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem at a news conference following Monday’s Eurogroup meeting.
