Olive oil price hike due to lower production

Greece has benefited, mostly in terms of being able to command a higher price for its olive oil, from the fact that Italy cannot cover its needs in olive oil due to natural disasters and is having to import, Agriculture Minsiter Stavros Arachovitis said on Wednesday at Heraklion, Crete.

Bumper crop for Greek olive oil

Olive oil production is expected to surpass 300,000 tonnes during this year's crop, recovering from a low 135,000 tonnes last year - one of the worst years for the sector - according to estimates made by the Agricultural Development Ministry on Wednesday.
