In a television interview, PASOK president Evangelos Venizelos revealed his plans if his party's electoral coalition “Elia” fares poorly in the upcoming elections.

Greek President Karolos Papoulias on Friday will meet with Pope Francis in the Vatican. Papoulias will travel to Rome to inaugurate jointly with his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano an exhibition of Greek and Italian antiquities.

A mix-up out of the blue caused a small raucous at the traditional cutting of the new year's cake by Hellenic Repuiblic president, Karolos Papoulias.
