More layoffs in public sector

Approximately 15,000 Greek public employees should have been laid off in 2013 and 2014, according to the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Greek government and the Troika of international lenders. From these 15,000, approximately 8,500 layoffs have already been carried out and the remaining 6,500 must be implemented within the next six months.

8 Billion Euro Civil Servants Payroll Reduction

Greece's Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated yesterday that the public sector had over the last four years, eliminated 200,000 employees, which resulted in an 8 billion euro reduced civil servants payroll.
