The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has been chosen by the Atlantic Council to be named this year as one of its Global Citizens for 2024. Joining Mitsotakis in receiving Global Citizen Awards were the Prime Minister of Italy Georgia Meloni, the President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo and top film producer Miki Lee from South Korea.

Foreign Minister, Giorgos Gerapetritis, participated yesterday in a ministerial-level working dinner on the Middle East, organised by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrell, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and the President of the International Peace Institute Think Tank Zei Ra’ad Al Hussein.

The Council agreed to mobilise the European Union Solidarity Fund to provide assistance to Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Greece and France, relating to six natural disasters occurred in 2023. The assistance will come from the EU’s 2024 budget.
